A very small, lightweight thermonuclear weapon, yet with a destructive power many times that of the bomb that destroyed Hiroshima. The W57 warhead was used for many purposes, including Navy use as an anti-submarine depth charge. With no pictures of the units I maintained, this photograph was taken at the USAF Museum in Dayton, Ohio, and shows a B57 that is both improperly marked and is perched upon a non-functional display stand.


Below is a B57 in its handling bolster.  The object in front of the weapon is its retardation parachute.
